Abstract The higher acidity in fruits compared with grapes was one of the main obstacles to producing high-quality fruit wines. In the present research, the effect of the split batch fermentation pattern on the metabolites of greengage wines was investigated. This fermentation pattern included whole fruit immersion in the sucrose and coculturing Saccharomyces bayanus Y4 with Torulaspora delbrueckii Y7. These results showed that the contents of total acidity and dominant organic acids were significantly reduced among the batches. Aliphatic compounds were decreased with the batches, while aromatic compounds that contributed to flavor improvement were increased oppositely. The acetate esters, ketones, and terpenes contents were significantly increased in the first batch of coculture. In addition, acidic stress largely affected the kinetics characteristics of greengage wine on a pilot scale. Interestingly, the increment of total acidity was closely associated with the rate of total sugar consumption, which was affected by microbial activities. The acidity content was significantly declined and distinct flavour profiles were formed in split batch and coculture fermentation of greengage wines. ABSTRACT Objective: To explore the factors affecting short-term prognosis of circulatory failure patients undergoing venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) treatment. Methods: A total of 136 patients undergoing VA-ECMO were enrolled in this study and subsequently divided into the death group (n=35) and the survival group (n=101) based on whether death occurred during hospitalisation. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) running time, length of intensive care unit stay, length of hospital stay, costs, and ECMO complications were then compared between the two groups. Results: The average age of all patients undergoing ECMO was 47.64±16.78 years (53.2±16.20 years in the death group and 45.713±16.62 years in the survival group) (P=0.022). Patients in the survival group exhibited a clear downward trend in lactic acid value following ECMO treatment compared to those in the death group. Total hospitalisation stay was longer in the survival group (35 days) than in the death group (15.5 days) (P<0.001). In the analysis of ECMO complications, the incidence of neurological complications, renal failure, limb complications, and infection were higher in the death group than in the survival group (P<0.05 for all). Specifically, as a risk factor for patient survival and discharge, the occurrence of infection will lead to increased hospitalisation stays and costs (P<0.05 for both). Conclusion: Complications such as kidney failure and infection are associated with in-hospital death, and ECMO-related complications should be actively prevented to improve the survival rate of VA-ECMO treatment.

Abstract Background: Tumor angiogenesis is an essential event for tumor growth and metastasis. It has been showed that REC8, a component of the meiotic cohesion complex, played a vital role in Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) in gastric cancer. However, the role of REC8 in gastric cancer angiogenesis remains to be identified. Results: Inhibition of REC8 expression in gastric cancer cells contributed to tumor angiogenesis in the gastric cancer microenvironment. The clinical analysis demonstrated that the loss of REC8 in gastric cancer with enrichment of MVD. Depletion of REC8 expression in gastric cancer cells significantly increased tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), which is attributed to enhancement of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) secretion caused by REC8 slicing. While addition of neutralizing antibody targeted VEGF into supernatant drastically reversed the effect of REC8 loss in gastric cancer cells on tube formation. Mechanistic analyses indicated that ablation of REC8 promotes nuclear factor-κΒ (NF-κΒ) p65 activity and its downstream gene VEGF expression, leading to tube formation. Conclusions: These results demonstrated a novel REC8 function that suppressed tumor angiogenesis and progression by attenuation of VEGF in gastric cancer microenvironment.

Pirazóis foram preparados em excelentes rendimentos via reação de condensação entre várias 1,3-dicetonas (R¹COCHXCOCH3, R¹ = Me, Ph; X = H, Me, Cl) e hidrazinas, acilhidrazinas ou sulfonil hidrazinas, na presença de quantidades catalíticas de Sc(OTf)3, a temperatura ambiente, na ausência de solventes. Adicionalmente, o catalisador foi facilmente recuperado após as reações e reutilizado sem perda evidente na atividade.

Pyrazoles were prepared in excellent yields via solventless condensation of various 1,3-diketones (R¹COCHXCOCH3, R¹ = Me, Ph; X = H, Me, Cl) and hydrazines, acylhydrazines or sulfonyl hydrazines in the presence of a catalytic amount of Sc(OTf)3 at room temperature. Additionally, the catalyst could be recovered easily after the reactions and reused without evident loss in activity.

Um método altamente eficiente e simples foi descrito para a síntese de imidazo[1,2-a]piridinas pela condensação de α-halocetonas (ArCOCHXR², Ar = C6H5, 4-MeOC6H4, 4-ClC6H4, 2,4-Cl2C6H3; X = Br, Cl; R² = H, CH3) com 2-aminopiridinas, apresentando rendimentos entre bons a excelentes sem a necessidade de adição de catalisador e solvente.

A highly efficient and facile method has been described for the synthesis of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines in good to excellent yields by condensation of the α-haloketones (ArCOCHXR², Ar = C6H5, 4-MeOC6H4, 4-ClC6H4, 2,4-Cl2C6H3; X = Br, Cl; R² = H, CH3) with 2-aminopyridines without the use of any additional catalyst and solvent.

Vários pirróis N-substituídos foram sintetizados pela reação de γ-dicetonas (R¹C(O)CH2CH2C(O)R²: R¹, R² = Me, Ph) com aminas (RNH2: R = Alkyl, Aryl, TsNH) ou diaminas (1,6-diaminohexano and 1,2-diaminoetano) na presença de tribrometo de índio, tricloreto de índio ou trifluorometanossulfonato de índio a temperatura ambiente e sem solventes. O protocolo envolve operações simples e os produtos são isolados em excelentes rendimentos (81-98%).

A variety of N-substituted pyrroles have been synthesized by reacting γ-diketones (R¹C(O)CH2CH2C(O)R²: R¹, R² = Me, Ph) with amines (RNH2: R=Alkyl, Aryl, TsNH) or diamines (1,6-diaminohexane and 1,2-diaminoethane) in the presence of indium tribromide, indium trichloride or indium trifluoromethanesulfonate at room temperature under solvent-free conditions. The experiment protocol features simple operations, and the products are isolated in high to excellent yields (81-98%).
